On December 16, 2014, the Appleton Area School District (District) entered into a resolution Agreement to resolve a Title VI and Section 504/Title II compliance review that OCR initiated regarding access of English Language Learners (ELL) and students with disabilities to the District charter schools. Under the terms of the agreement with OCR, the District agreed to provide equal access to the educational opportunities offered by the District charter schools for English language learner students (ELL) and students with disabilities, and to provide limited-English proficient (LEP) parents with information about the charter school programs, services and activities in a language they can understand. Additionally, the District will ensure that individuals with disabilities have physical access to the facilities in which the district’s charter school programs, services and activities are located.
