PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
Striving Readers aims to
- Raise middle and high school students' literacy levels in Title I-eligible schools with significant numbers of students reading below grade-levels.
- Build a strong, scientific research base for identifying and replicating strategies that improve adolescent literacy skills.
TYPES OF PROJECTS
Striving Readers projects, funded in 2009, include
- A supplemental literacy intervention targeted to students reading significantly below grade level;
- A strong experimental evaluation component.
Striving Readers projects, funded in 2006, include
- A supplemental literacy intervention targeted to students reading significantly below grade level;
- A school-wide literacy program for improving student literacy in all disciplines 2006 cohort.
