Program Description
The Buffalo City School District, Every Person Influences Children (EPIC), and the Center for Character and Citizenship at the University of Missouri will join together to develop, provide training for, and implement a comprehensive character education project based on the EPIC Pathways to Character curriculum. The project will serve approximately 6,500 students in grades K-8, and 393 teachers and staff in 24 schools district wide. Buffalo schools will involve 4,360 parents through EPIC’s Parenting Young Children curriculum workshops, home-based activities and special events.

Goals and Objectives

• To develop a comprehensive program design that creates seamless curriculum and addresses effective classroom implementation, connecting state learning standards and every aspect of school culture
• To reduce negative behaviors and increase positive behaviors by involving teachers, parents, business leaders and community members in the project. Student outcome variables will include academic achievement and disciplinary actions

Evaluation Design
Buffalo City School District will use an experimental (randomized longitudinal) evaluation design. Student, teacher and parent outcomes will be assessed through questionnaires and annual surveys.
