Performance Reports

The principal Government Performance and Results Act performance indicator for the Advanced Placement Incentive (API) program is the ratio of Advanced Placement (AP) and International Baccalaureate (IB) tests taken in public high schools served by API grants to the number of seniors enrolled at those schools. Tests taken by all students, not just seniors, are counted. This indicator is similar to the “Challenge Index,” which was developed by Washington Post education columnist Jay Mathews to measure the extent of student participation in AP and IB courses in U.S. public high schools. The data are collected from grantees in their annual performance reports.
