The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) can assist the public in verifying the accuracy of, and correcting if necessary, personal data in Department of Education (ED) systems of records. A system of records contains information that can be retrieved using a personal identifier (name, Social Security number, etc.). The collection and use of this information is governed by the Privacy Act.
The majority of ED's systems of records are related to financial aid, but there are other systems of records as well.
