8.Objectives: Provide 180 individuals at three correctional institutions in Washington, Florida, and North Dakota with work-based learning in building trades.
9. Procedures: Two eight week pre-apprenticeship carpentry vocational training classes will be conducted each year at each site using HBI's Craft Skills curriculum. Program includes life skills, substance abuse, continuing education, and pre-placement support programs. Job placement will be with member companies of the local HBA project partners.
10.Outcomes/Results/Products: Increased levels of vocational and educational attainment; increased retention rates in employment; reduced recidivism; and improved quality of life for participants. To evaluate, document, and disseminate the impact of the program model and its components. Development of Project Procedures Manual and a video tape. Publication of articles and presentations.
