Community Update

Community Update is a monthly newsletter that reaches over 268,000 parents, educators, and other citizens involved in school improvement efforts across the country. It features "best practices" and model programs from around the nation, focusing on how communities can learn from each other as they improve their schools.

Ready to Read, Ready to Learn

On the Ready to Read, Ready to Learn website visitors can view First Lady Laura Bush's Education initiatives on reading, featuring examples of effective early reading strategies and programs.

• As a part of the Ready to Read, Ready to Learn initiative, Mrs. Bush hosted the White House Summit on Early Childhood Learning to foster dialogue on preparing young children to learn.
• To help parents evaluate reading programs, The First Lady also published a guide for parents entitled: How Do I know a Good Early Reading Program When I See One?

Partnership for Family Involvement in Education:
Who We Are and What We Do

Who We Are and What We Do describes the work of PFIE, featuring examples of partner's work in supporting schools and education. The site also includes President Bush's education plan No Child Left Behind and an overview of The White House Office of Faith Based and Community Initiatives.
