After-School Day! The Mott Foundation announced a national poll showing overwhelming public support for after-school enrichment programs to keep kids safe and smart. In addition, a nation-wide media initiative was launched to promote after-school programs.

A live, interactive free teleconference was held with Afterschool leaders to discuss creating quality after-school programs. A video and backpack kit of the teleconference may be ordered on-line.

Extended Deadline Date
Applications postmarked by this date were accepted for 21st Century Community Learning Centers fiscal year 1998 competition.

Federal Register Notice -- Extension of Application Deadline Date.
The deadline date was extended to March 27 for the submission of applications for new awards for fiscal year 1998 to allow more time for the submission of applications by potential applicants adversely affected by severe weather conditions in various areas of the Nation. The extension was intended to help these potential applicants compete fairly with other applicants under this program.
