What We Do

OERI directs and conducts a full range of activities. We

  • Support basic and applied education research.

  • Collect and analyze education statistics.

  • Identify promising and exemplary programs and models of practice.

  • Acquire, organize, and disseminate quality education information from a variety of sources.

  • Provide assistance to school districts, states, and others.

  • Develop information products for many different audiences.

  • Offer library and information services.
In these activities we actively collaborate with parents, students, teachers, researchers, administrators, policymakers, employers and others. We also collaborate with other agencies and organizations to develop new systems for dissemination of information. This collaboration is continuous; it keeps us attuned to the many priorities of American education. And it allows us to respond to emerging needs.
