The Institute supports a wide range of research activities designed to improve student learning in the core content areas. Major components of our work include:
Centers conduct sustained research and development initiatives that address nationally significant problems and issues in education. Centers are located at universities, which receive five-year grant awards.
Field-Initiated studies (FIS) grants are awarded for up to three years to support educational research projects. Topics and methods of study are generated by the investigators.
The Institute monitors a variety of grant programs designed to improve education, including work in content standards, professional development, and assessment.
The Institute is playing a major role in ensuring the quality and utility of educational research designed to improve student achievement.
