The chair, Kenji Hakuta, called the meeting to order at 2 p.m.

Action Items

The Board reviewed a draft statement of work that would modify its contract with the National Research Council/National Academy of Sciences (ED-00-CO-0088) by adding tasks that would promote effective use of scientifically based education research by the practitioner communities and strengthen the infrastructure of research. Members made numerous changes in the draft and voted to include an amendment proposed by Dr. Evers on random assignment experimentation. The Board directed that the revised draft would be circulated to all members for further review and that any additional requests for changes should be forwarded to the chairman. The teleconference adjourned at 3 p.m.
