As a result of attending this Summit, what two things does your state team commit to doing in the next six months toward enhanced literacy for children and their families?

1. Conduct an Oklahoma Reading Summit for the dissemination of research.
2. Implement Oklahoma's Reading Sufficiency Act.
3. Initiate discussion with Teacher Preparation Committee
   • Oklahoma will be revising curriculum standards - will add research to reading discussions.
   • Align state assessments with revised standard.
   • Invoke discussions with textbook publishers.
   • Retrain teachers of reading.

1. National media campaign - geared to parents (same commitment we had to drugs and safe sex.
2. Create awareness campaign for daycare providers. Develop a series of videos that demonstrate research practices.
